This article discusses providing the best possible health care and interventions, in part due to understanding the health disparities that may exist among populations. When data collection efforts include demographics for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals, health systems can become more culturally responsive and inclusive. However, information on health conditions by sexual orientation and gender identity is hard to find because the data are not routinely collected.
