This report presents the findings of the periodic Epidemiology Capacity Assessments, which revealed a dire shortage of epidemiologists and upcoming funding issues. The report also looks at how this shortage is forcing health officials to divert resources from other important issues, such as gun violence and opioid overdoses in order to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
