Decolonization Is Not a Metaphor

This article reminds readers that decolonization is not a metaphor for improving society; it is the practice of repatriating Indigenous land and life. The article explains how the metaphorization of decolonization makes it difficult to hold settler descendents accountable, and confront their complicity. This article analyzes multiple settler moves towards innocence in order to advance decolonization efforts centering sovereignty, in relation to human and civil rights based social justice projects.
