Staff Contributor: Erin Barbaro, MA
Erin has been a Contributing Writer for Community Commons since 2014, sharing her expertise in the use of data and technology for social impact, public data and the use of data for community change processes, and knowledge management for social impact. Erin is most passionate about how data can be used to create impact in communities, particularly when data brings diverse stakeholders to the table and creates new insights and connections. She strives to lift up stories of the limitations of data as it is ground-truthed and checked against lived experiences.
Currently, Erin is the Director of Products and Partnerships for the Institute of People, Place and Possibility (IP3, steward of Community Commons), where she supports product strategy, product management, technology team liaison, and IP3 ASSESS partnership manager. She brings a holistic perspective and over 20 years of experience with technology and data for social impact. In her work, Erin has applied spatial data and analyses toward a broad range of topics such as social determinants of health, education, disaster response & resilience, food access, natural resources, and public policy. Additionally, Erin creates and implements training tools to help partners successfully utilize the suite of online tools developed at IP3. Erin has a Master of Arts in Geography from the University of Missouri.
Erin resides in Columbia, Missouri and loves traveling with her family.
