This health note explores the potential health effects of implementing several measures aimed at police reform within the Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). These measures include prohibiting the use of neck restraints by officers, enhancing public access to body-worn camera footage in cases of officer-involved deaths or severe instances of use of force, expanding officers' continuing education, reforming use-of-force standards, restricting the acquisition and utilization of military weaponry by the MPD, and minimizing the use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons and riot control agents.
