Living close to a lot of businesses increases the number of jobs a person can have. It can also create economic growth for that region, town, or city. As people move from high-cost cities to suburbs, their closeness to jobs decreases. This usually affects low-income individuals and people of color. There are a lot of ways to increase the opportunities for jobs. This can include moving businesses out of cities or closer to public transportation. It can also mean providing transportation to employees or remote work.
