Paid family leave lets a worker earn some of their pay while caring for a family member who needs help due to health issues. This can include pregnancy, caring for a new child, or helping someone with an illness. Federal law gives paid family leave to workers in companies with more than 50 employees. The federal law makes sure that employees will not lose their jobs when they take paid family leave. States have also passed paid family leave laws. But some do not give job safety. The federal paid family leave law could also cover workers in small companies. States could also pass laws to give paid family leave to all workers without the risk of losing their jobs.
