Local governments charge different types of fines and fees. These fees include court fees, parking violations, and utility fees. People can be sent to jail because of unpaid government fines. These fees and punishments should be reviewed. There should be a good reason to charge fees and fines. They should not be too harsh. Fees and fines should not result in debt for people, especially in communities of color.
