This article discusses the association of autistic traits in adulthood with childhood abuse, interpersonal victimization, and posttraumatic stress. Findings include that women with the highest autistic traits were more likely to have been sexually abused in childhood, to have experienced the most physical/emotional abuse in childhood, to have been mugged, and to have been pressured into sexual contact. High levels of PTSD symptoms were also more prevalent in those with the highest severity of autistic traits.
