How States Keep Community at the Center of Hospitals' Community Health Needs Assessments

This blog discusses that tax-exempt hospitals must conduct community health needs assessments every three years to identify community needs and develop a plan to meet them. It explains that states can influence what community needs get represented in CHNAs and have statutory Levers for enforcing community benefits and transparency in annual releases. The National Academy for State Health Policy convenes a Hospital Community Benefits Workgroup to explore how to create meaningful investments with tax dollars.
